How do asset QR codes work?

Let anyone scan an asset to see its details instantly, without needing to sign in.

Every asset gets a unique QR code that opens a public, read-only details page when scanned — helpful for production teams, contractors or visitors who need asset information without signing in.

• How scanning behaves in the mobile app.
• What happens if a code is unliked.

What scanning the code shows

The public page shows safe identifying information only — name, code, status, condition, description, identifiers, noise and emissions details, emergency shutdown procedure, photo, account name and asset type. It never shows cost, owner, production or other sensitive details.

How the code and the asset stay connected

The QR code encodes only its own reference, not the asset itself. Scanning it looks up that reference and shows the linked asset’s public details, or a generic “not linked” message if the code has been unlinked. In the Mobile App, scanning opens the full asset record when you can access its production; otherwise it opens the same lightweight public view.

Use Regenerate QR Code from the asset’s Details tab if you need to refresh the image files.

Attach a pre-printed QR code to an asset instead of using its generated one.
